International Mindedness
LA’s commitment to international mindedness is solidified by over 60 global connections with top-tier universities, international schools, and organisations worldwide. This core principle is delivered through four key initiatives—inbound and outbound exchanges, virtual classes, and pen-pal programmes—which collectively prepare students for a globally interconnected future.
Inbound Exchange
Our Inbound Exchange programme welcomes students and educators from partner schools worldwide to our campus. These visits are designed to foster cross-cultural understanding, facilitate joint project work, and promote mutual learning. Visiting student and teacher groups from Victoria Junior College (Singapore), Kyungpook National University High School (South Korea), Alabuga International School (Russia), and Future School (Kazakhstan) recently engaged in primary and secondary classes as well as STEAM activities, fully supported by our dedicated student hosts.
Outbound Exchange
The Outbound Exchange programme, known as the Global Classroom Initiative, provides transformative global immersion experiences. Students travel worldwide for diverse, themed programmes. Examples include vital service projects, such as school-building in Tanzania, local volunteer services in Vietnam, attending a 5-day space camp at NASA, and historical tours in the Balkans. Overseas trips have been expanded to PYP with the addition of the Year 6 Singapore STEAM tour. These educational exchanges consistently foster cultural immersion, academic growth, and global citizenship.
Virtual Classes
Geographical distance poses no obstacle to intellectual exchange through our Virtual Classes. We leverage technology to connect students with international peers for specialised and collaborative courses. Recent examples include a partnership with Alabuga International School in Russia for advanced mathematics, participation in the ‘Brain, Medicine, and AI: The Future of Science’ online course in collaboration with Tel Aviv University in Israel, and a number of authentic and meaningful connections with schools around the world within PYP units of inquiry via virtual meetings and online sharing.
Pen-pal Activities
Our traditional pen-pal activities have evolved into dynamic, digital collaborative platforms based on class level. Students now engage in projects that explore scientific issues with peers in countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Africa and the USA. Discussion topics focus on critical areas, including how technology and environmental protection can achieve sustainability.
International Professional Exchange
Our management and teaching teams actively present the school’s innovative curriculum, such as the “boundaryless” gifted approach and cross-cultural AI media literacy, at various international forums like the annual World Association of Lesson Studies (WALS), the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children Conference (WCGTC) and the Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness (APCG).
Furthermore, we champion deep, collaborative research in gifted education, student well-being, and future readiness by hosting esteemed international experts, including Professor Lianne HOOGEVEN (Radboud University of the Netherlands and the former chairperson of the European Council for High Ability) for joint discussions on advanced gifted education strategies, Dr. Lance G. KING (Global Expert on 21st-Century Skills) for workshops on resilience and future-ready competencies, and Professor Dr. Jost SCHIEREN (Alanus University, Germany) for strategic consultations on curriculum development and holistic teaching methods.
