Student Council

The LA Secondary Student Council is elected through a democratic process to represent the voice of the student body and foster an inclusive school environment. The Council acts as a key bridge, voicing student concerns and ideas to the administration. Key activities include organising school-wide events, such as cultural festivals, sports days, and charity drives.

Participation in the Student Council provides valuable experience in collaborative leadership, democratic principles, and event planning. Members refine essential skills, including public speaking, negotiation, and logistics coordination, through regular committee work and meetings with the school leadership.

The Council has significantly enhanced student engagement by introducing feedback systems and organising inclusive, diverse events. Notable initiatives include launching well-being support programmes, such as stress-relief activities during exam periods. The Council’s strength lies in its student-centered, transparent, and peer-elected foundation, ensuring genuine accountability and representation.

Prefects

The Prefect Team, established in 2010, has over 140 student members from Primary 4 across all grades. Prefects act as role models, ensuring campus order and promoting disciplinary habits. They also serve as a bridge between students and teachers.

Prefects receive intensive leadership workshops and camps to catalyse skill development, like conflict resolution, professional communication, and team leadership. Regular meetings evaluate daily duties and implement improvement strategies under teacher guidance.

This large team embodies the school’s core values, promoting a positive and respectful culture. Their visible presence during morning duty and recess ensures a safe environment for all students.

Student Librarians

Student librarians ensure the smooth daily operation of “Learnopia” (School Library). They manage borrowing and returning services, diligently re-shelving, categorising, and preparing new books for circulation.

This role cultivates organisation, responsibility, and meticulous attention to detail. Librarians are trained in daily service duties and inventory management; secondary students also gain practical bibliographic data entry skills.

Student librarians learn classification skills for different book types, assist readers in finding books, and actively promote reading through various library reward programmes.

Their commitment and dedication significantly enhance the quality of library services for all patrons. They maintain the library’s well-organised structure, contributing to a positive learning environment.

MC & Student Ambassador Team

The MC & Student Ambassador Team, established in 2024/2025 academic year, comprises over 30 student members spanning Year 3 through 12. An ambassador acts as a representative of ELCHK Lutheran Academy, hosting school events and leading campus tours. He or she also serves as a bridge between the school and the wider community.

This ambassador receives structured training throughout the school year during CCA sessions. The training catalyses development in public speaking, confidence, and leadership skills. Regular duties ensure the team member gains valuable experience under guidance.

This through-train MC & Student Ambassador Team embodies the school’s core values, preparing the student leader to unlock their potential and shine on stage.

Mental Health Ambassadors

The student wellbeing ambassador group, InspireME, was established in 2023. This group offers an opportunity for a senior student to take on the role of a wellbeing ambassador.

The student-led approach aims to foster a heightened sense of morale within the school community and simultaneously eliminate the stigma associated with mental health through a variety of events, from scholastic tutor sessions to welfare-related activities.

This comprehensive approach provides valuable opportunities for an ambassador to build their leadership skills, develop an empathetic mind, and cultivate resilience and self-confidence. The group embodies the school’s commitment to holistic development, ensuring every student feels supported and encouraged.

LA Volunteers

The LA Volunteer group was established in September 2022 to foster a spirit of community service, empathy, and leadership among students. The group’s primary role is to provide meaningful, hands-on volunteering opportunities for members to contribute positively to the school and the wider community.

The volunteer programme catalyses holistic development by training students in vital 21st-century skills through real-world service initiatives. Members gain proficiency in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and leadership.

Since its inception, the group has successfully organised major service projects, including beach cleaning, visits to local elderly homes, and fundraising events that supported underprivileged families. The programme is unique for its student-led approach, where members actively plan and execute all activities, fostering a culture of service and compassion from Year 1 to Year 12.
